The GW Review was conceived by a circle of friends sharing
ideas about networking in the Canadian music industry. The goal
of this publication is to establish alliances between like-minded
artists in an attempt to bring live music back to the people.
As musicians, one of the most rewarding things we do is perform
live. Becoming a musician is fairly straightforward. You pick your
instrument and you hone your talent. Once you've done that, the
challenge is to combine commerce with your efforts, while establishing
and maintaining good relationships with the people and entities
that will help you attain your goals.
To that end, The GW Review is an experiment in networking.
GW stands for Glory Whore, a "tongue in cheek"
name for a vehicle that will allow up-and -coming Canadian musicians
to exchange ideas and expose their work to a variety of valuable
contacts.
The GW Review writers and editors gather information and
contacts in the hopes that we can facilitate the creation of valuable
alliances that will help you succeed in the Canadian music industry.
We will share our knowledge with you and we encourage you to share
your knowledge with us.
The GW Review resides on the website of Toronto band Candlelight
Opera, the creators of this newsletter. We use this tool to
promote ourselves and, in exchange, we share information with our
members, many of whom are facing the same challenges as ourselves.
We do this because we believe in the strength of partnerships, strategic
alliances and information sharing.
To this end, we will provide information about; Canadian artists,
venues, networking events, industry seminars, business conferences,
recording, gear and whatever else we believe to be relevant.
The GW Review is published once a month at www.candlelightopera.com/gwreview.
Our members are notified of monthly updates via e-mail.
